spirituality, meaning of life, psychological well-beingAbstract
The present study shows the impacts of spirituality, meaning in life and quality of life in relation to the total psychological well-being (PWB) of the investigated population. 841 adults participated in the research (convenience sample), the majority of whom were female (70.9%), with ages ranging between 18 and 86 years old (M= 35.21; SD= 13.96). Data collection was carried out virtually, using a questionnaire containing sociodemographic questions and the following scales: Meaning of Life Questionnaire; Psychological Well-Being Scale; Quality of Life Instrument (WHOQOL-Abbreviated); and Quality of Life Instrument, Spirituality, Religion and Personal Beliefs Module-WHOQOL-SRPB. Multiple linear regression analyzes were carried out, the results of which indicate that each PWB dimension is impacted by different variables. The most common across all dimensions are: WHOQOL Psychological Domain, directly explaining the six dimensions; and the WHOQOL Physical Domain, directly explaining four of the six dimensions. The Spirituality total score was a significant predictor of four of the six PWB dimensions, while at least one of the two meaning in life dimensions contributed significantly to five PWB dimensions. The study data demonstrated important contributions of the investigated phenomena to the healthy functioning of individuals, confirming results from other scientific research and providing support for new studies.
