Current evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions based on character strengths points to the great potential they have to promote well-being and reduce depressive symptoms. However, there are still questions that need to be addressed in order to develop ongoing research on this topic. In this narrative review, some aspects that can guide this scientific inquiry are evaluated, such as the role of personalized interventions and their differences with generic interventions, strengths correlated with well-being, distinctive strengths, and the contexts in which they can be applied. justify this study. It is concluded that, despite the contributions to the promotion of well-being from the implementation of this type of intervention, the evidence on its effectiveness still has some edges to explore that will allow an improvement in the effects obtained, such as the mechanisms and contributions that each of the strengths gives to other aspects of well-being and psychological functioning in different areas of life.
