EFECTO DE LA PSICOPREVENCION POR MEDIO DE UN MODELADO CON SONOVISO SOBRE LA CONDUCTA ANTE EL TRATAMIENTO ODONTOLOGICO DE NIÑOS ENTRE CUATRO Y CINCO AÑOS DE EDAD

Abstract

Se evaluó la psicoprevención por medio de un modelado con sonoviso como una técnica de manejo de la conducta ante el tratamiento odontológico. Este es un estudio piloto en el cual se estudiaron 8 niños con edades entre 4 y 5 años. Cuatro pacientes fueron expuestos al sonoviso antes del tratamiento y cuatro no lo fueron. Los resultados no mostraron diferencias entre los grupos, pero se sugiere un estudio más a fondo dada la positiva respuesta del grupo experimental y el reducido tamaño de la muestra. Abstract Pyschoprevention by means of an instructional audiovisual tape was evaluated as a behavior management technique in patients receiving dental treatmenl. This was a pilot study in which eight children between 4 and 5 years old were studied. Four patients were exposed to the audiovisual tape prior to treatment and four were nol. Results did not indicate differences between the two groups, but further studies of the technique are suggested given the positive response of the experimental group and the small sample size.
