Abstract

The challenges of a fast-paced, ever-evolving world profoundly impact nursing practice. Technology, multitasking and the increasing expectations of care subjects present additional challenges which must be managed on a daily basis by professionals. In the midst of this accelerated and dizzying pace, the practice of situational awareness stands out and is developed as a skill that provides a solid foundation for nursing practice in this century and into the future. Situational awareness has a profound impact on health dynamics, people's safety, effective communication at all levels, team coordination and management, as well as self-care, personal and professional satisfaction and health outcomes.
