Double dimension of the fundamental right to care. A reflection from alzheimer

Care goes through interpersonal, family and community relationships and sustains the relational core that gives rise to the Constitutional Rule of Law. It generates an interdependence between the patient and their caregivers in order to survive. Until now, it has found a limited space for thought, regulation, and legal interpretation. Care has been removed to the family sphere, based on the fact that this activity should not also be thought of from the public, from the political sphere. Care, as a human activity and need, has been perceived from the perspective of burden or guilt. This academic reflection explains the right to care in a double dimension that involves a series of rights and conditions for those who have the right to be cared for and the rights of those who care. Taking alzheimers as a reference because it´s classified as a disease of emotional and physical dependence between the patient and their caregiver.
